Nicolas Hulot, newly appointed Minister of Ecology and Solidarity transition, spoke on Thursday night on France 2 about the airport project of Notre-Dame-des-Landes (NDDL Airport). He considers “that we have not studied all the alternatives” and believes that “there is probably another option that will satisfy all the interests of each other.”
The Minister of ecology and solidarity Transition, Nicolas Hulot, said on Thursday night on France 2 that there were “alternatives” to the controversial airport project of Notre-Dame-des-Landes (Loire-Atlantique), which he had said his hostility before his appointment in the government of Edouard Philippe.
“We will come out of the confrontation and we will go into consultation and cooperation on this and many others”, he said in his first public appearance since his appointment on Wednesday.
“My belief is that there are alternatives, but mediation will start, probably will demonstrate” , he continued, referring to mediation on Thursday morning by the Prime Minister. “All the solutions and the options are on the table. My belief is that we did not examine all the alternatives “, he said.

On nuclear, Nicolas Hulot conceded that one could “live with” this energy, but called for a “vision” in the direction of the energy transition. It confirmed the goal for 2025 to reduce the share of nuclear power from 75% to 50%. He also assured that the power plant at Fessenheim (Haut-Rhin) would be closed.
