Bentley Motors has revealed its intention to become a global leader in sustainable luxury mobility with its Beyond100 strategy, unveiled on November 5. The brand will reinvent all aspects of its business to become a carbon neutral organization as it enters its second century of existence. The goal is driven by a transformation program across operations and products, which includes changing models to offer exclusively plug-in hybrid or battery- electric vehicles by 2026, and only fully electric vehicles. ‘by 2030.
Bentley’s electrified future was previewed on the occasion of its centenary with the unveiling of the all-electric EXP 100 GT concept car, which also uses a host of sustainable materials. Last year, the Crewe plant became the first of its kind in the UK to be certified carbon neutral by the Carbon Trust. This follows two decades of implementing innovative solutions, including a water recycling system in the paint shop, the planting of local trees, the installation of a covered parking lot with 10,000 solar panels.(bringing the total number of panels on the site to 30,000) and the switch to renewable energies. By the end of this year, all suppliers will have passed a sustainability audit, verifying their sustainability credentials.
In the future, by the end of 2025, the company intends to reduce its environmental impact in the factory by focusing on energy consumption, CO2 emissions, wastewater, the use of solvents in the process of paint and becoming neutral plastic. This will result in a climate-positive factory by 2030, actively reducing carbon levels in the atmosphere. Finally, Bentley has renewed its intention to produce its cars by hand, a process that will combine know-how and digitization.
