The heatwave alert level was raised in Ille-et-Vilaine, in the published map at 4pm on Monday 19th June, 2017, by Meteo France. The department is placed in orange alert until 11pm on Tuesday 20th June.

In total, 51 French departments are now affected by this warning , consequence of the high temperatures that beset the country since the weekend.

Temperatures should reach 35° C in the shade on Tuesday in Rennes and Redon, 34° C to Vitre and Fougeres, 29° C in Saint-Malo.  At night, the temperatures barely went down, and remains above the threshold of 18° C.

The Ministry of Health has set up a special telephone helpline, “accessed on 0800 06 66 66, which provides advice to protect themselves and those around him, especially the most vulnerable” . The call is free from a landline, from 9 am to 7 pm.

Advices

If you feel unwell or behavioral problems, call a doctor.

If you need help call the town hall.

If you are elderly, chronically ill or isolated in your surroundings, take their new or visit them twice a day. Accompany them in a cool place.

During the day, close your shutters, curtains and windows. Ventilate during the night.

Use fans and / or air conditioning if available. Otherwise try to go to a cool or air-conditioned place (supermarkets, cinemas …) two to three hours a day.

Wet your body several times a day using an atomizer, a washcloth or taking showers or baths.

Adults and children: drink plenty of water, Elderly: drink 1.5 liters of water a day and eat normally.

Do not go out during the hottest hours (11am – 9pm).

If you must go out wear a hat and light clothing.

Limit your physical activity.
