Heatwave in Paris: Emergencies Still Under Very High Tension, Nearly 3,000 Visits in 24 Hours

The activity of the emergency services of AP-HP hospitals in Paris remained “exceptionally high” for the second consecutive day, this Saturday 27th June
The activity of the emergency services of Parisian public hospitals has remained “at an exceptionally high level” over the last 24 hours, for the second consecutive day, said Saturday in its daily update l’AP-HP which brings together these establishments. Like Friday, “nearly 3,000 visits were recorded” to emergency services, a level “36% higher” than a normal day, according to the AP-HP.
Those over 75 are the most affected
“Those over 75 represent 23.4%” of emergency room visits during this period heatwave, “a proportion up 1.5 points in 24 hours”, notes the AP-HP.
More than half of these patients over the age of 75 remain hospitalized after their stay in the emergency room, while the proportion is much lower among all patients (20% remain hospitalized).
“Regarding pediatric emergencies, we are observing a similar level of activity compared to last week”, before the heatwave sets in, the institution said.
Regarding calls to the Samu, they are also “stabilized at a very high level” for the four Samu in Paris, Hauts-de-Seine, Seine-Saint-Denis, and Val-de-Marne.
“We also see a still high number of cardiac arrests for our four SAMUs”, said the AP-HP.
