Four departments of the Hauts-de-France have been placed in vigil orange snow-ice until Saturday midnight, announced Meteo France .

The departments concerned are Aisne (02), Nord (59), Pas-de-Calais (62) and Somme (80), said Météo France in its forecast bulletin, indicating that this is the first ice storm of the season. Eure-et-Loir (28) is no longer in orange vigilance.

Possible power cuts

The freezing rain has shifted to the Hauts-de-France and temperatures are struggling to recover. Although slippery phenomena will be temporary, traffic conditions may be difficult and dangerous.

Significant snowfall or ice storms are expected and electricity and telephone distribution networks could be affected.
