Brittany: The Small Island of Quéménès is for Rent (and it is cheap too)

Local News Property
Island Quéménès is for rent at 600 euros per month

PROPERTY:  If you want to raise pigs and receive tourists, this offer is for you …

That changes the ads that ask you to earn three times the rent and have five guarantors … to rent a studio in the attic in Paris. The Coastal Protection has published a call for proposals to settle on the island of Quéménès in the Molène (Finistère) part of Brittany. This is France 3 Bretagne who spotted the ad.

Only 600 euros rent (roughly)

“We have already received a lot of applications,” tells the conservatory, which states that it must present “a viable economic project” by the tenants of the island which will of course not be paid by the conservatory. They will however pay an “occupancy fee” estimated by the conservatory to be 7,000 € per year, or less than 600 euros per month.

The island is about 30 hectares and includes two houses (one of 63 m² for the family, the other of 143 sqm for public reception), a stable, a barn and outbuildings …

The family previously lived on the island had set up an island farm, including a piggery. They also receive tourists. According to The Telegram , they managed to generate 1.5 SMIC for two. New entrants will be selected in October by a jury. They will settle on the island in early January. Before submitting your application, be aware that there is a condition: it is mandatory to have a marine certificate.
