Twelve departments of the Atlantic coast, are now on orange alert with vigilance for wind or wave-submersion for the day on Saturday, announced Meteo France in its bulletin 6am.
This vigilance, already linked the departments of Vendée, Loire-Atlantique, Morbihan, Brittany, Maine-et-Loire, Charente-Maritime, Indre-et-Loire, Deux-Sèvres and Vienne, was extended to the Côtes d’Armor, in Ille-et-Vilaine and Indre.
According to Meteo-France, Saturday morning, strong winds will affect first of all the Finistère, then gradually Morbihan, the Southern Loire Valley, Tours, the Charente-Maritime and Poitou. On the coast, gusts could reach 120 to 130 km/h in inland 100 to 110 km/h.
Possible flooding
In a context of the still high tide coefficient Saturday morning, strong winds, locally stormy, generate significant waves, and abnormal elevation of sea level, warns Météo-France.
Flooding will therefore take place mainly around high tide Saturday morning (around 7:30 am), on low or vulnerable parts of coastal departments placed in orange alert.
In Angers, the city decided to close the parks and gardens all day Saturday.Cemeteries, meanwhile, will be closed in the afternoon only.
