The prefecture of Sarthe takes stock of the weather in Sarthe, Tuesday 12th June, 2018 , at 7pm. Even if the weather conditions should subside, rains and thunderstorms can still happen in the next few hours. In addition, new rains are expected Saturday 16th June.
Heavy rains in recent days have led to floods , particularly in the communes of Bonnétable , Souligné-sous-Ballon and Congé-sur-Orne .
Orange Alert
In parallel, a rise in water levels is observed on the river Huisne . The communes of the watershed are placed in raw orange vigilance by the service of forecast of the floods.
Since Friday, bad weather has generated more than 1,800 firefighter interventions.
Hundreds of homes without electricity
A medico-psychological aid cell went today to the communes of Souligne-sous-Ballon and Tuffé . She will go tomorrow to meet the inhabitants of Bonnétable.
A few hundred households are without electricity due to three ongoing incidents on the network. The situation should be restored in the evening.
At Souligne-sous-Ballon, where the repair requires a longer intervention, a generator will be set up tonight.
Many roads were flooded and closed to traffic. The situation is recovering little by little.
Road users are urged to reduce their speed and be extremely vigilant.

The school bus service is suspended Wednesday 13th June in the town of Ballon-Saint Mars and two lines will not be insured in the town of Saint-Jamme-sur-Sarthe .

On line 11 the service is normal except for the establishment of a diversion at the level of the commune of Souligne-sous-Ballon;
On line 12 the service is normal except for the “Mairie” stop in Bonnétable.

5 days to declare the damage
The prefect Nicolas Quillet visited this morning the most affected municipalities to identify the damage and inform the elected officials on the steps to be taken.
The prefect reminds the victims of the importance of reporting their damage to their insurers within 5 days.
State services remain fully mobilized to provide assistance to the affected populations.
