Two young men aged 20 and 30, originating in Ambarès-et-Lagrave, tried for transport and detention of narcotics were sentenced Monday to 24 months in prison with 14 months suspended, refers the paper SudOuest. They were arrested in Biarritz Wednesday by bikers from the Customs division with 48 kilos of cannabis
An addiction to cannabis
They were placed in customs detention, after an eventful arrest and chase that lasted just a few minutes. One of the young men maintains that he was simply accompanying his friend, telling that he “was asked in Bègles, by a man who knew his addiction to cannabis, to make a trip for 2,000 euros” , according to Sudouest.
They were also sentenced to 192,000 euro fine for possession and transportation of narcotics on behalf of the customs administration. The Deputy Prosecutor Anne-Marie Laprie had requested for eighteen months detention for both defendants.Their defenders, Alexandre Novion Me and Delphine Galy, stressed the addiction of young people to cannabis and regretted that the investigations have stopped them.
