February 2018 did not reach the cold records of 1941 or 1956 but will remain in the first quarter of February the coldest in Lot-et-Garonne.
Meteo-France takes stock of February in the Lot-et-Garonne. On the rain side, January was rainy, February is in the normal range, except in the upper Agenais where the deficit is around 30%. These accumulations are mainly due to the days of 14 and 28 which brought more than 15mm for the first and 10mm for the last day of the month. It snowed several times, in the night of 6 to 7 as well as 28 on the south of the department. There was 1 to 3 cm of snow in the area of Casteljaloux, Allons, Nérac.
Down to minus 9 degrees
On the temperature side, we are well below normal, between 1 and 2.5 ° C for the minimum and between 2 and 3 ° C deficit for the maximum. After an exceptionally mild January, what a contrast! The first decade is rather cold with the return of the morning frosts from the 6th. The second proposes a respite of sweetness and a peak at 18 ° C in Agen and Cancon, and even 19 in Nérac. The third decade is cold again with records falling 27 (-7 ° C in Cancon, Nérac and Villeneuve, -8 in Lacapelle-Biron and even -9 in Fargues-sur-Ourbise! We are still far from records from 1941 and especially 1956 … February 2018 will remain in the first quarter of the coldest ones.
The sun was not generous: a deficit of 15% compared to the seasonal norm. It was more generous at the end of the month but with the cold air mass (the “Moscow-Paris”) we could hardly enjoy it. The wind that blew on the 28th chased the snowy episode and brought some sweetness.
