Employees of road transport of hazardous materials (fuel, gas, chemicals …) are required to stop work and strike on Friday, announced on Tuesday the CGT, which launches a “renewable” movement for better recognition of the profession.
The strike, at the weekend of the Ascension, in particular affect the oil depots and thus, ultimately, petrol stations which have a range of three days, according to the CGT. The union expects a particular movement followed in Ile-de-France and the west.
The CGT demands better taken into account in the collective agreement for road transport, “specific” clean hazardous materials. Among its claims: a daily maximum useful work 10:00, a specific biannual medical monitoring, a minimum hourly rate of 14 euros per hour and a thirteenth month.
“Some drivers are 56 hours per week”, which raises the issue of “property and personal safety”, develops Fabrice Michaud, federal secretary of CGT Transport.
A driver “carrying 38,000 liters of fuel and 24 tons of acid is paid 9.73 euros per hour”, when he must “be specific certificate holder obtained after exams” to be renewed “every 5 years, “recalled recently CGT in a leaflet.
