Eleven departments in France are still on Orange Alert for thunderstorms

  • It remains more than half.
  • The alert is expected to last until 11pm.

Everyone is not out of the gloom. Eleven departments, a total of twenty to two initially , Southwest in Languedoc, were held late Sunday afternoon in amber alert for severe thunderstorms, announced Meteo France.


These departments, which remain on orange alert until 11pm are: Ariege, Aude, Aveyron, Corrèze, Creuse, Haute-Garonne, Hérault, Lot, Tarn, Tarn-et-Garonne and Haute-Vienne. Thunderstorms, accompanied by wind gusts and sustained rains stretched late afternoon of Toulouse, where gusts of 85 km/h have been observed until Limousin and southeast of the region Center.

Strong gusty winds expected

The storm line will continue to grow to the east and reaches the Mediterranean evening, after crossing the Limousin and Midi-Pyrenees regions.

Strong gusts of wind up to over 100 km/h are expected, and possible hailstorms.


Four departments of the Atlantic coast, Charente-Maritime, Gironde, Landes and Pyrénées-Atlantiques, were the first to go from orange to green vigilance vigilance in the late afternoon, after experiencing sustained rainfall and strong gusts of wind, more than 100 km/h at some places like in Biscarosse (Landes).
