According to a Harris Interactive poll for RMC published on Friday, eight out of ten French approve the decision of François Hollande not to seek a second term in the Elysee in 2017.
To the question “do you approve or disapprove of you the choice of Francois Hollande not to be a candidate in the 2017 presidential election”, 82% of French respondents said “approve” the decision of the head of state. However, the 4% of respondents “disagree” and 14% answered “neither one nor the other.”
Among supporters of the left, they are 86% to “approve”, 88% among supporters of the right and center, 84% among supporters of the National Front.
Manuel Valls, the best candidate for the left?
When asked about the “personality” that respondents would like to see designated after the primary organized by the Socialist Party and its allies choose their candidate for the presidential election of 2017, respondents put Manuel Valls leading with 24% (+5% compared to the previous survey of 21 November) to Arnaud Montebourg, 14% (=) and Benoît Hamon, 6% (1%).
Among supporters of the left, Manuel Valls is credited with 33% of positive responses (-1% from the previous poll November 21) before Arnaud Montebourg(20%, +3%) and Benoît Hamon (13%, +4% ). Finally, at the end of primary, 50% of respondents would prefer rather than designate Valls Montebourg (42%) to represent the left in the presidential election in 2017.
Survey conducted online December 1 after the televised speech of François Hollande to 2 December, with 803 people aged 18 and over, by the quota method.
