Violent Storms Expected in Calvados in the Evening and Night of Wednesday

A warning has been issued for a stormy episode that is expected to hit Calvados this Wednesday 26th August 2026 in the evening and night.

The prefecture of Calvados just announced it at the end of the afternoon, around 5 pm.  Météo-France has just placed the entire department in yellow alert worsened for storm risks this Wednesday 26th August 2026 in the evening and at night.

The stormy peak expected between 10 pm and 2 am in Calvados

These new alerts follow those implemented by Météo-France in recent days for the late afternoon. Thunderstorms are therefore expected this Wednesday 26th August in the four corners of Calvados until 4 am this Thursday 27th August.

The stormy peak is expected between 10 pm and 2 am. Cumulative rainfall generally between 5 and 15 mm, with locally 20 to 30 mm, is expected.

Calvados Prefecture

For its part, Météo-France specifies that from the evening and early night, they will be locally violent, accompanied by hail and of strong gusts of wind, with a possible switch to an orange alert for  ‘storms’ .

Recommendations from the prefecture

During this stormy episode, the Calvados prefecture recommends to its fellow citizens to limit your movements, to postpone outdoor events, to store or secure items that may be taken away by wind and move away from trees and streams during the storm.
