AUTO: Manufacturers had a blast in terms of announcements during the centenary of the Le Mans 24 Hours. Toyota presented a brand new racing car there, which could be seen on the track as early as 2025
On June 9, at the 24 Hours of Le Mans circuit, Toyota presented its “GR H2 Racing Concept” racing prototype for the world premiere. At 5.1 meters long and 2.05 meters wide, this racing car of the future features a front end reminiscent of the new road-going Toyota Prius.
Little technical information has been revealed about it but this prototype will carry a hydrogen engine accompanied by a hybrid system. This means that, unsurprisingly, Toyota should be there in 2025 when the hydrogen category is launched at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
This category will accept combustion engines that run on hydrogen – this solution seems to be Toyota‘s – as well as cars equipped with a fuel cell that transforms hydrogen into electricity.
