RAIL TRANSPORT: A way to revive rail transport, hit hard by the coronavirus crisis
“We will make you prefer the train”. This well-known SNCF slogan is being brought up to date, the sector having been hit hard by the coronavirus crisis. Associated with the eleven regions which manage regional rail transport, the railway company launches the ” TER de France” operation, a story of “restoring confidence and desire in this mode of transport with multiple advantages”.

Like what it does for TGV and Intercités, SNCF will put on sale from June 22 nearly 2 million TER tickets from 1 to 10 euros.
A youth pass at 29 euros
The company and the regions will also offer a “Young TER of France Pass” for young people aged 12 to 25. It will allow them to travel across the TER network for 29 euros per month, in July and August. “The objective is to facilitate the mobility of young people who represent 40% of customers” of regional rail transport, said the partners.
As for those who already have an annual TER subscription, ie 130,000 people, they will be able to use it free of charge during the two summer months on regional trains from the regions where they go on vacation. In addition, SNCF has launched an interactive tourist map to facilitate and strengthen access to the main sites, with the creation, for example, of a direct line between Paris and Pontorson / Mont-Saint-Michel.
“The recovery is very slow, we are currently around 25% of usual TER traffic. We must at all costs ring the hour for recovery! “, Frank Lacroix, the director-general of this branch of the SNCF.
