SNCF has said on said Tuesday that it has suspended the sale of tickets for all its TGV and Intercités on the twelve days of strikes planned in April, the travellers being asked to postpone their trip.
“We have suspended bookings for strike days over the period from 3rd April to the 29th April,” said a spokesman for ‘Oui’. On the site OUI, SNCF, all the TGV and Intercités are marked complete. Oddly enough, the TER tickets, which are also supposed to be affected by the strike, are still on sale.
Tickets redeemable or refundable without charge
“For customers to travel in good conditions, we invite them to postpone as much as possible” their travel, added the spokesman, stating that the tickets are exchangeable or refundable without charge. Travelers are advised to consult the transport plans the day before the strike days at 5 pm, to find out which trains will be running.
To oppose plans to reform the railway sector, SNCF’s four representative unions called for a strike two days out of five, from 3 April to 28 June. Their movement therefore concerns the 3, 4, 8, 9, 13, 14, 18, 19, 23, 24, 28 and 29 April.
SNCF ensures that prices will not increase
It is too early to predict anything in May and June, according to the spokesman. In fact, reservations remain open on the days affected by the strike (starting May 3, then 4, etc.), if it should last until then.
SNCFhas also denied a rise in ticket prices between days of strike, as indicated by Le Monde . “Cognizant of the difficulty customers have in organising for trips in April, SNCF management pays particular attention to train prices on non-strike days. The usual prices are the same on these days, “said the SNCF in a statement.
