Some 500 hectares of pine forest and scrubland, and a house burned on Wednesday, near the towns of Saint-Pons-de-Mauchiens and Villeveyrac in the Hérault in a fire. The fire caused the evacuation of 400 people.

The fire broke out around 3pm, before being “contained” at around 8.30pm. A fire ravaged this Wednesday, some 500 hectares of pine forest and scrubland, and a house near the towns of Saint -Pons de Mauchiens and Villeveyrac (Hérault). The flames also need preventive evacuations.



Some 400 people were evacuated from the camping Borepo in Villeveyrac and certain dwellings located particularly in the area of the Valmagne Abbey. Half has been greeted in the hall of Villeveyrac, a commune in which a house burned. Meals were served and their beds have began to be installed.

In the evening, about 300 firefighters were involved in the fight against the disaster and two columns of reinforcements were expected from outside the department and seven Canadair bomber planes and two departments were mobilized.
