A soldier died Wednesday morning in an accident armored occurred during an exercise in the military camp Caylus in the Tarn-et-Garonne , said an official source.
The skipper of a front armored vehicle (VAB) was killed when his vehicle turned at an exercise conducted on a track inside the Caylus camp, for reasons still unknown, said a spokesman of Sirpa Terre.

An open police investigation
The victim is a non-commissioned officer of the 3rd Marine Infantry Parachute Regiment (RPIMa) based in Carcassonne, which was not in the armored commands in the accident. The other vehicle’s passengers were not injured, the source added.
An investigation by the gendarmerie was opened to determine the exact causes of the accident.
“The Army understands the grief of the family, relatives and all the brothers in arms of the deceased sergeant and assured them of its support,” adds Sirpa Terre in a statement released late afternoon.
