Meteo France placed nine southwestern departments orange alert for thunderstorms which include the Charente. Also concerned Charente-Maritime, the Dordogne, Gers, Gironde, Landes, Lot-et-Garonne, the Pyrenees-Atlantiques and Hautes-Pyrenees. Vigilance is between 4pm and 3am tomorrow Saturday to Sunday. Forecasters announce our department “active stormy period with a marked risk of hail and heavy rain intensity.”

Some storms could burst this morning. The peak of the episode is expected in the afternoon.  “In the late afternoon a zone of intense storms back of Pyrenees-Atlantiques and Hautes-Pyrénées to the Landes and Gers and the Lot-et-Garonne and Gironde evening, finally the Dordogne and the Charente early next night, with the risk of large hail, wind gusts up to 100 km/h and very heavy rain (up to 30 mm in 1 hour), the low mobility of storms giving locally significant accumulations “wrote Météo France.

In second Saturday to Sunday night partly thunderstorms eventually disappear (except Poitou-Charentes), only a few remaining showers, or a bit of rain on the south of the region.
