The airline Hop!, an Air France subsidiary, says that “85% of flights will be okay on Friday, “the first of two days of strike of its cabin crew”, a “significant impact”.
For the weekend of crossover of the school holidays, “the order of 80%” of cabin crew at Hop! said in advance their intention to strike, they said in a statement the three representative unions SNPNC-FO, CGT and Unac, who called the strike.
For its part, the leadership of Hop! said that only “the program of flights made with regional aircraft may be affected for two days,” while the “Airbus aircraft and shuttle flights will be operated normally.”
At Orly, “the 49 return flights scheduled for the 7th, 25 are canceled”, or 51% cancellation, according to airport sources.
At Roissy, where there are only flights, 27 of them were canceled for Friday, which means that “some passengers arriving at Roissy abroad can not take their connecting flights”, sources which provide “the same cancellation of order” for Saturday.
The flight attendants of Air France subsidiary have called the strike by their three representative unions, who demand “guarantees for their jobs within the group.”
The direction of Hop! lamented that maintaining this strike will “penalize customers of the company in this period of the school holidays.”
For their part, unions have warned that the mobilization is “unprecedented” and that “the impact on flight operations will be very important.”
According to them, “the companies Hop! And Air France are trying to minimize the extent of the strike, integrating in their count” flights with Air France employees not affected by the strike call.
With a hundred aircraft, Hop! provides 600 daily flights to 50 stops in France and Europe.
The company, founded in 2013, expects a return to financial profit this year. It faces competition from high-speed rail and low cost airlines on some routes.
