A handful of departments in France are affected by yellow alert for storms, rain and wind this Wednesday. Find out if yours is on the list.
It’s Autumn and the weather is very changeable. When we look at the weather forecast from Meteo France this Wednesday 29th October 2025 in the morning, there is no doubt.
“The sky is overcast throughout the day in almost all regions”, we can read in the bulletin of the weather organization. This is without counting on the rain which should affect several regions today.

Wind alertness began at 7 a.m. That of rain-flood begins at 12 p.m. and storms for 4 p.m., as we learn on the Météo France website.

THE precipitation will concern Brittany and the tip of Cotentin. They will also water the Pyrenees chain. They are a little more sustained from the coast of the Gulf of Lion to the southern foothills of the Massif Central to the Var coast.
In the rest of the country, the clouds dominate, they are low and very gray in the north of the country, accompanied by patches of fog locally.
Thunder, storms and wind
In the afternoon, it rains from the Languedoc and Var beaches to Drôme and Ardèche where a clap of thunder cannot be ruled out.
Cloud cover remains very compact over the rest of the country. The wind shifts from the southeast to the south in most regions, it strengthens up to 70-80 km/h on the Pyrenees, in the Autan area, on the Massif Central and the Rhone corridor.
At daybreak, the thermometer shows between 3 and 6 degrees from the center to the northeast, between 10 and 14 by the sea, between 6 and 10 in the rest of the country. The maximums reach 13 to 17 degrees in the northern half, 17 to 20 degrees in the south, up to 22 on Corsican beaches.

Two gales expected by this weekend
This is just the beginning of this tough weather cocktail. In the coming days, it will even turn out to be a little more bitter. “France will find itself under the influence of a very powerful high altitude wind”, indicated meteorologist Yann Amice for a previous article.
A first episode of wind will set in in the west of France this Thursday 30th October, then a second probably even a little stronger Saturday 1st November.
Some wind gusts at 100 km/h are already modeled on the coasts of Brittany and Normandy for this Saturday 1st November.
