Toy Drive Organized by Secours Populaire helping the most deprived in Charente

The Esplanade media library hosted the festivities in the presence of elected officials and volunteers, highlighting the importance of helping the most deprived in Charente

To mark the 80th anniversary of Secours populaire (SPF) organized at the Esplanade media library in Saint-Yrieix, a toy drive is being set up until October 11 so that Secours populaire children can benefit from it. And this, at a time when the population supported continues to increase, reaching +12% in 2025.

As a reminder, the actions of the SPF are numerous: food aid, clothing, professional reintegration, legal aid and rights, self-esteem, international actions, green Santas, egg hunt and many others. Four branches are managed by the federation: La Couronne, Rochefoucauld-Chasseneuil, Confolens and Angoulême, in addition to the five autonomous committees of Soyaux, Ruelle, Mouthiers, Ruffec and Châteaubernard.

In 2024, there were 640 donors, including 91 regular ones. 55,000 people were supported or helped and 70,000 made at least one visit to the SPF. There are also 26,000 packages distributed, 3,700 emergency packages allocated, which represents 189 tonnes of food products and 23,000 tonnes of fresh products.
