The CGT of Seine-Maritime calls to join the Yellow Vests Saturday 19th January, 2019, “to force the government and the employers to respond to the social emergency.”
The departmental union Seine-Maritime CGT calls to “demonstrate alongside Yellow Vests, and this from Saturday, January 19”, in a statement released Friday, January 18, 2019. The union was not convinced by the performance of Emmanuel Macron, at Grand-Bourgtheroulde , in the Eure . He “will not participate in the big debate at any level.”
A “legitimate anger”
The CGT affirms “that the worker’s anger, expressed in the strikes, and in the mobilisation of the Yellow Vests, is totally legitimate in the face of a government and an employer who act only for the benefit of the shareholders and the bankers”. It wants to “force the government and employers to respond to the social emergency.” Thus, its militants are called to gather at 10 am, place of the town hall of Rouen, and at the same time in Le Havre, Cours de la République, in front of the Franklin building.
Joint mobilisations
Already, Yellow Vests and CGT had joined during mobilisations. They were together in front of the Renault Cléon factory , on November 30th, 2018, to defend employees on strike and on the streets of Rouen on December 1st. At the same time, they had blocked the Rubis oil terminal in Grand Quevilly a few days later.
The stated purpose of the Yellow Vests is to be able to benefit from the strength of this union and for its part, the CGT hopes to “prepare strikes and demonstrations” for the day of February 5, says Pascal Morel, departmental secretary, following the call launched by the central trade union Thursday.
