WEATHER: Meteo France has once again placed the Charente, like 23 other departments, in orange alert this Saturday for severe storms
Meteo France has once again placed the Charente, like 23 other departments, in orange alert this Saturday. The alert for the Charente department concerns the risks of thunderstorms between 10pm this Saturday and 4 am on Sunday.
Indeed, in the evening a vast stormy system will go up from the Pyrenees to the north, reaching the Charentes in the second half of the night. It will give heavy rain between 15 and 40 mm and some gusts of wind.
It will also be accompanied by a significant risk of hail, weakening when arriving on the Charentes. Winegrowers are called to unleash their anti-hail procedures between midnight this Saturday and 8am Sunday.
The prefect of the Charente therefore calls for vigilance and asks road users to avoid any unnecessary travel and to respect the principles of caution below:
- When approaching a thunderstorm, take the usual precautions to shelter wind-sensitive objects.
- Do not hide under trees.
- Avoid walks in forests.
- Avoid using the phone and electrical devices.
- Immediately report fire starts that you may witness.
