Several injuries in road accident in Normandy

ROAD ACCIDENT: Saturday 25th November, 2017, shortly before 12.30pm, a major pileup occurred on the A13 near Pont L’Eveque. There would be many wounded, three very serious.

The A13 motorway in Normandy is partly cut off to traffic in the direction Caen-Paris, at Pont L’Eveque (Calvados). Shortly before 12.30pm this Saturday 25th November, a major pileup occurred in the municipality of Saint-Hymer.

Eight ambulances, three Samu and a helicopter ambulance

Seven cars collided. Nine relief centers have been fielded, with seven ambulances, two road rescue vehicles and 31 firefighters, and three branches of the SAMU, of Lisieux, Criqueboeuf and Caen. The helicopter Dragon 76 of the Civil Security was also called in reinforcements.

Thirteen people involved and three seriously injured

Thirteen people were involved in the pileup. Three people were seriously injured and absolute urgency: two were cut from their vehicles and another is a pedestrian who was on the emergency lane. They were transported to the University Hospital of Caen.

Five other people were injured and five were unscathed.

Partial opening of traffic at 3pm




The accident caused about 4 kilometres tailback of traffic. At 3 pm, a partial opening of the traffic was considered, but only on one lane. According to Sanef is a hailstorm is what would be the cause of this accident.
