Taxi strike in Paris turns violent with 19 protestors arrested

Tyres on fire and the CRS copiously sprinkled with various projectiles.  Striking taxi drivers blocked on Tuesday morning during an hour, the Paris ring road up to the Porte Maillot in protest against the “unfair” competition, according to them with passenger vehicles with drivers.

During the incident, the police conducted nineteen arrests, according to information provided by the Prefecture of Police.  The strikers were arrested for acts of “violence”, “Fire” and “weapons.”  The police headquarters declined to specify what type of weapon it was, explaining that the Paris prosecutor could be expressed in the day.

Manuel Valls is scheduled to receive at 12.15 angry taxi drivers in Matignon with Bernard Cazeneuve, the interior minister, and Alain Vidal, his counterpart for Transport.  According to reports by Le Parisien, about 1,500 taxi drivers were on strike Tuesday.
