Police: Anti-Crime Operation on the RN137

A helicopter, 40 police, 10 customs officers were mobilized Thursday on the RN137 to Puceul.

Checks were made on Thursday, December 17, 2015 in the direction Rennes – Nantes on the Puceul rest area and at the exit to the RN171.

592 vehicles checked

All vehicles were diverted to the rest area at Puceul, on the RN171, between Rennes and Nantes.  In total, 592 cars and trucks were checked on Thursday night between 9 pm and 11 pm in an anti-crime operation involving a helicopter, 40 police and gendarmes, 10 customs officers and inspectors of the Regional Directorate of Environment, Planning and Housing.

13 contraventions and offences

The results of the operation shows thirteen offences and misdemeanors including three faults with driving licenses, two vehicles with defects and un-road worthy, a non-change of information on the grey card, a lack of insurance, two instances of non-compliance of the driving amplitude, driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of drugs and the possession of drugs.

The operation will be repeated in 2016

A driver 18 years old tried to escape the device and fled. He was arrested in Nantes and then placed in custody. He will appear in criminal court for “hit and run, endangering the lives of others, driving without a license and vehicle theft.

This operation described “major” by the gendarmerie had two purposes: deterrence and awareness. It will be repeated in 2016.
