The Pays de la Loire Region has unveiled a new promotion for the tram train from Nantes to Châteaubriant, offering a new day ticket for groups.
The new promotion that is on offer is for a 20€ Day ticket , which will allow up to five people to travel on the one ticket, for the whole day.
Gilles Bontemps, VP of Regional Council of Pays de la Loire explains “It is not a family rate, it’s a bundled rate, It is a day ticket costing 20 Euros, valid for one, two, three, four or five persons.” He continued “I pledged to set up a promotional offer at the December Committee meeting for the casual traveller who does benefit from the existing offers and preferential rates. ”
With this new tariff, it is now possible to use the tram train unlimited during the day, and if you travel as a group of five, then the cost of a return trip Nantes-Châteaubriant will work out at just 2 € per person.
The tickets are only valid just for the day, and not for a period of 24 hours, so for example if you purchase a ticket on Wednesday, it is only valid for Wednesday and not 24 hours from when the ticket was bought or used. They can be purchased to be used every day of the week, including the weekends.
This promotion, which starts on the 11th February until 31 August 2015, could be an excellent idea for families who want to take a day out in Nantes, without the need to take the car, or for a group of friends and workers could also utilize this to save travel costs if they can arrange to travel together at the same time. A sort of car-pooling system but using the tram train.
I would imagine that this could be quite popular and give a real boost to the Nantes – Châteaubriant service. What they now need to do is reduce the price of the individual tickets as this still works out expensive at 20€ return compared to the same trip that use to be available on the Bus run by Lila for around 5€ return.
