FILM: The actor, Michael Shannon who played Zod in ‘Man of Steel’ reprised his role in the film with Ezra Miller
For Michael Shannon, acting in The Flash was not a very “satisfying” experience, at least from an artistic point of view. Indeed, the actor who takes over the role of Zod, whom he played in Man of Steel (2013), has a lot of trouble with scenarios built around the idea of a multiverse, which is the case with The Flash .
“I’m not going to lie, it was pretty unsatisfying for me as an actor. These multiverse movies feel like someone is playing with action figures,” he told Collider. “It’s kind of like, ‘Here’s that character. Here is that other character. And they hit each other!” »
Hard to defend
“It doesn’t have the depth that I found in the character written for Man of Steel,” continued Michael Shannon.
“I really felt like Man of Steel offered a pretty sophisticated story. This is also the case for The Flash, but not when it comes to Zod. »
Clearly, Michael Shannon has some difficulty defending the blockbuster that has just arrived in theatres. However, he wanted to revere the performance of Ezra Miller whose recent escapades have yet tainted the promotion of the film.
“I don’t want to spoil anything, but what Ezra had to do in this movie is pretty crazy, and I think he was motivated,” the Take Shelter star added. “I know that very often with films like this people focus on the sets and the special effects, but for me, it’s always the performance (of the actors) that counts. »
