Vendée: Thirty Trees Felled to let a Special Convoy Pass

On Wednesday, about thirty trees were felled on the road to Luzon in the Vendee, to allow passage of a special convoy carrying two boat hulls, for a few minutes, reports Ouest-France .

The news was made public by a local resident, who denounced it, calling it a “chainsaw massacre”. Orginally planned over a year ago, the special convoy carrying two boat hulls to Les Sables d’Olonne, was going to be carried across a nearby field, but due to some rain, it had been judged that the ground was now unstable for safe transit across. The decision was then taken to take down the trees lining the road.
