In recent days, motorists angry against rising fuel prices are protesting by putting their yellow vest on their dashboard. But is it allowed?
Is there a fine if you put your yellow vest on your dashboard ? This is the question that the gendarmes of La Bassée (Nord) answered on their Facebook account. The military said they received many questions from Internet users about whether or not to wear the famous vest on the dashboard of cars.
And “to twist the neck to a false rumor that circulates”, the gendarmerie is categorical. No, you will not be verbalized, “except in case of hindrance to visibility”.
“Of course, the yellow vest should not interfere with your visibility to drive. In this case, it would indeed be a class 3 bis offense (45 €). “
A rumour relayed on social networks
Since the call to block the November 17, 2018 to protest the rise in fuel prices, many French motorists have decided to show their support for the movement by putting a yellow vest on the dashboard of their car.

But last October 30, parody site Nordpresse published an article according to which motorists would have been fined 150 euros. A poison designed to make subscribers laugh. But some unfortunately took this info for cash and hastened to relay it, thus launching a rumour.
