Discovering a rare bird in Lalbenque

As part of a program related to farming, the LPO Lot wants to discover the screaming Oedicnemus, an atypical bird of the Causses. The size of a small hen, this bird with long legs and big yellow eyes is very discreet during the day. However, when night comes, he utters loud, loud shouts, hence his “screaming” name. It is present on vast areas of low vegetation, such as grazed fields, young crops or dry lawns well represented in the causses.

Today, the screaming Oedicnemus struggles to find a habitat that suits him. The environments he loves close and insects, his favorite prey, are becoming increasingly rare. Today, it is difficult to know the size of its population in the Lot.
