A 37-year-old man died after leaving Piseux (Eure) on Tuesday 5th June, 2018. His car slipped into a ditch filled with water. Details.

37-year-old man died on Tuesday 5th June, 2018, stuck in his car, in Piseux (Eure) . According to the services of the prefecture, the car made a “road exit” and “slipped into a ditch filled with water” at the level of the departmental road 840. The victim died, trapped inside his vehicle who turned around. He was found by the emergency services around 5.45am.

Orange Alert

The department remains placed in orange alert by Meteo France  this Tuesday 5th June. “The firefighters have conducted more than 300 interventions for securing property and especially evacuations of cellars,” says the prefecture.

“A dozen people was safe as a precaution in the second half of the night in communal buildings in the towns of Bémécourt and Guéroulde,” say the state services.



Meteo France is still waiting 10 to 30 mm more water in the day of Tuesday, “on the Paris basin and in Upper Normandy”, in addition to the heavy rains already fallen in the night, with up to 70 mm in Eure.

“My thoughts to the family of the victim”

Sébastien Lecornu , Secretary of State and former President of the Department of Eure, addressed his thoughts to the family of the victim and supported “rescue teams” in a tweet.
