Emmanuel Macron announces state visit to china

Emmanuel Macron will visit China from the 8th to the 10th January 2018 for his first state visit to the country. Topics to be addressed are the Syrian and North Korean issues.

Emmanuel Macron will pay his first state visit to China from 8 to 10 January 2018, said Tuesday the state news agency Xinhua quoted the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

Mr Macron, elected in May, has already met with Chinese President Xi Jinping during the G20 summit last July in Hamburg.

The two leaders, whose countries are permanent members of the UN Security Council should discuss in particular the Syrian and North Korean issues during the stay of Mr. Macron in Beijing.

“Finding the European ambition”

For his first vows as president, Emmanuel Macron said Sunday that the French had “need to find European ambition” to “deal with China, the United States.”

The previous state visit by a French president in China goes back to that of Francois Hollande in October 2015.
