The summer 2017 saw the return of foreign tourists to the region (+ 11.5% compared to 2016), according to figures released by INSEE and the Regional Agency of the Pays de la Loire this Friday.
INSEE, in collaboration with the Regional Agency of the Pays de la Loire, just published figures in tourism of summer 2017 in the region.
Between April and September, 19.1 million overnight stays were recorded in campsites, hotels and holiday residences of the Pays de la Loire. An increase of 4.8% compared to 2016.
British, Belgians and Dutch
The 2017 season marks the return of foreign tourists to the region after a 2016 half-mast. The podium of international tourists has three European countries: the British, still leading, followed by the Belgians and the Dutch (22.7% of overnight stays in campsites in 2017).
The Germans are the fourth tourists Pays de la Loire, and their attendance was also up this year. The Spaniards who stay in the region, meanwhile, are turning increasingly to the camping (30% of overnight stays compared to 2016).
