ARMY: Sabrina Jonathan Francesca, David and others are ready for the challenge launched by Prince Harry …
Like the Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in 2016, the French athletes are “ready” to defend our colours at the Invictus Games 2017. This year it is in Canada, in Toronto, that the third edition will take place in these games reserved for wounded veterans and civilians of the Defense Ministry.
Imagined by Prince Harry , the younger son of Lady Di, the Invictus Games will see this Saturday, 600 athletes from 17 nations competing. Athletics, indoor rowing, wheelchair basketball, cycling, golf, swimming … are among the ten disciplines in which the French will defend their colours.
But before the athletes, it is first wounded soldiers following with the help of the Centre National des Sports de la Défense (CNSD) a reconstruction path. “The medal is not an end,” says Chief Commissioner of 1st class Hervé Hericcirillo, commander of the CNSD. “The goal is that athletes can find personal fulfillment […] whether in their family, social or professional environment. ”
And yet, our athletes can compete very well: last year in Orlando in the United States, the French delegation had brought home 37 medals.
