In Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and Nouvelle-Aquitaine, some pharmacists will now be able to vaccinate their customers against the flu.
Pharmacists in the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes and Nouvelle-Aquitaine are allowed on an experimental basis to proceed to vaccinations against flu, sets a decree published in the Official Journal (OJ). The measure, included in the last budget law for Social Security, allows pharmacists who have had sufficient training, to offer the vaccination against seasonal flu to adults except pregnant women and people who have never been vaccinated against flu, said the decree published on Thursday in the OJ.
“People at particular risk (allergic reaction to a previous immunization, anti-coagulant treatments …) identified by the pharmacist during the pre-vaccination interview should also be oriented doctor” , it added. The professional must obtain the patient’s written consent and inform the doctor of this last of his act.
The pharmacy will receive € 4.50 per person vaccinated as soon as it receives a vaccine and prescription € 6.30 if the patient has a good management addressed by its fund health insurance. A lump sum of € 100 will also be paid to the pharmacy from five vaccinations.
Three years test
In a statement, representatives of pharmacists (Order, trade unions …) is welcomed “this major step forward for public health”, but regret that the experiment is not intended for “all adults” . They also ask “expanding the number of experimental regions” and “the extension of the target population” .
The experiment, lasting three years, aims to “improve immunization coverage”. It creates the doctors’ unions reluctance and Liberal nurses unions in particular fearing a “dismantling of their powers” .
