Francois Hollande will inaugurate on Tuesday the high speed line between Tours and Bordeaux which will open to the public on the 2nd July. This new route will put Paris, 2 hours from the city of Bordeaux.
The President of the Republic, Francois Hollande, will inaugurate on Tuesday the infrastructure of the high-speed line (LGV) Tours-Bordeaux. The ceremony will be held on the station of Villognon, Charente.
The new high-speed line will enter into service for users that on the 2nd July, but the line is complete. Work began in early 2012 and the cost of construction amounted to 7.8 billion euros, funded by the state, the community and the European Union to the tune of 3 billion, LISEA ( Vinci, the deposit, Meridiam and Ardian) to 3.8 billion and finally SNCF network (1 billion).

302 km of railway lines
With a length of 302 kilometers, the new high-speed line through 117 municipalities. 15 structures were built and LISEA estimated 50 million m 3 of stone and earth were brewed on this gigantic project.
The LGV will allow a top speed of 350 km/h and therefore significantly reduce journey times. Thus, for the route Paris – Bordeaux before LGV, it took 3 hours and 11 minutes. With the new high-speed line, travel time will be only 2 hours and 4 minutes.
