Appearance, taste, quality of the crumb… Where is the Best Baguette in Paris of the year 2026?

The 33rd edition of the Grand Prix de la baguette de tradition française took place Thursday 26th February 2026 in Paris. 143 bakers proposed their creation.

It has become a tradition. Every year for over 30 years, the Paris City Hall organize the competition for the best baguette in town. This Thursday 26th February 2026, 143 different breads were tasted, examined and classified by the jury of this 33rd edition. The work of a baker was distinguished: that of Sithamparappillai Jegatheepan and his boulangerie “Fournil Didot” in the 14th arrondissement of Paris.

4,000 at stake

The jury, chaired by Nicolas Bonnet Oulaldj, Deputy Mayor of Paris in charge of crafts, was made up of representatives of major professional federations, journalists and Parisians drawn at random. To decide between the candidates, the jurors based themselves on very precise criteria : the appearance, taste, cooking, crumb, honeycombing, but also the size of the baguette and its salt content.

Sithamparappillai Jegatheepan from his boulangerie “Fournil Didot” wins a prize of 4,000 euros and succeeds Mickaël Reydellet, winner in 2025.

8. Boulangerie Moderne Rabineau – 16, rue des Fossés Saint-Jacques (5th)
9. Aux Délices de Glacière – 90, boulevard Auguste Blanqui (13th)
10. Au Paradis du Gourmand – 156, rue Raymond Losserand (14th)
