Aude and Hérault maintained on Orange Flood Alert on Tuesday, Finistère and Morbihan on Rain-flood Alert on Wednesday

Aude and Hérault are kept on orange alert this Tuesday 20th January for risk of flooding, according to the latest Météo-France bulletin. Two Breton departments are placed on orange “rain-flood” alert from 4 a.m. Wednesday 21st January.
The orange alert continues this Tuesday 20th January in two departments in the south of the country. Météo-France maintained hérault and Aude on orange alert for floods. In these territories, the soils are now saturated after several successive rainy episodes, increasing the risk of flooding.

In the Pyrénées-Orientales, welcome rain after the drought
If the situation remains under surveillance, this precipitation is welcomed with relief in the Pyrénées-Orientales, on yellow alert, hard hit by drought in recent years. “There is water everywhere, the streams are full, it no longer absorbs, it is waterlogged”, testified a winegrower on RTL. In two days, 80 liters of water per square meter fell. “In 33 years, I hadn’t seen heavy rain like that. This is good news after two or three years of drought. We hope this year to have rain and a harvest. It takes around 600 liters per square meter to make a good harvest”, he explained.
In the department, accumulations have also reached 160 to 200 millimeters over the last 48 hours in the east of the territory, with up to 220 millimeters on the border with Aude. In Perpignan, an additional 50 millimeters were recorded over the last six hours.
