Winter weather has set in in the Dordogne. The department is placed on yellow alert for snow and ice, from this Thursday 20th November at 9 p.m. After a cold day, with maximum temperatures well below seasonal averages (6 °C in Périgueux, or 7 °C less than the average at this time of year), Météo France announces the first snowfall in the evening in northern Périgord.

The first flakes should appear in Nontron and Thiviers. Rain showers mixed with snow are also expected near Brantôme and Mareuil, before “real” flakes but in fairly small quantities during the night, with the drop in temperatures, in Mareuil again but also further south, in Ribérac.

The weekend promises to be quite gloomy and chilly, with perhaps more snow, Saturday 22nd in the evening, in the Tourtoirac sector. Sunday 23rd, rain should affect the entire department, throughout the day, with at best 11 °C in Périgueux
