Tornado in Val-d’Oise: One Dead and Four Very Seriously Injured, announces the Prefecture

A violent storm and tornado in Val-d’Oise left one dead and four very seriously injured in Ermont, the prefecture announced this Monday 20th October.

Violent winds in the region hit several towns in Val-d’Oise this Monday 20th October 2025 and at the end of the afternoon, left one dead and four seriously injured in Ermont, after being struck by a tornado, the prefecture announced to l’France-presse Agency (AFP) at the beginning of the evening, without specifying the circumstances of the death.

The municipalities of Franconville and Eaubonne were also affected by this episode.

The episode “now over”

“There is one person who died, four in critical condition and five in relative emergency condition”, detailed the prefecture, evoking “an episode of strong winds including a tornado is now over” during which “cranes fell and roofs were torn off”.

On site, 80 firefighters, 50 police officers and 20 Samu members were mobilized.

An open operational center

On images obtained by l’AFP near the National Police Alliance union we see a crane collapsed on a residential building. The newspaper The Parisian had previously reported “a violent storm hit Val-d’Oise at the end of the afternoon, around 5.45pm”.

The prefecture indicated on social networks that the firefighters and security forces were “mobilized in Ermont, Eaubonne, Andilly, Montmorency and Franconville for several interventions linked to an episode of violent wind”.

A departmental operational center has been opened in the prefecture to coordinate security and rescue operations.
