New Prime Minister: The French are not Kind in a Poll with Macron and Lecornu

DISTRUST: Sébastien Lecornu is off to a particularly bad start in his lease at Matignon, while Emmanuel Macron is in free fall
Even if a new tenant has been in place since Wednesday in Matignon, the (bad) polls follow one another and are similar for the executive. According to the latest Ipsos/BVA barometer for La Tribune Dimanche, Sébastien Lecornu does not receive the favors of the French and the very strong distrust against d’Emmanuel Macron confirmed.
With only 16% favorable opinions (compared to 40% unfavorable opinions), the prime minister indeed does less well than his predecessor François Bayrou (20%) during his appointment and he is even clearly behind Gabriel Attal (37%), Michel Barnier (34%) and Élisabeth Borne (27%). In addition, 60% of French people think that he will not reach a compromise with opposition parties, including the PS, to have the 2026 budget adopted.
Macron’s dizzying fall
As for Emmanuel Macron, in this barometer he reached his historic low since his arrival at the Elysée in 2017, with only 17% favorable opinions and a dizzying fall of 18 points in his own electorate.
Among the personalities with whom the French would be satisfied if they arrived as president of the country, the president of RN Jordan Bardella comes first (35%), ahead of party leader Marine Le Pen (32%), then Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau (27%), who is ahead of former Prime Minister Edouard Philippe (25%).
Raphaël Glucksmann, the first left-wing personality in this ranking, only comes in eighth position (18%).
This survey was carried out from September 11th to 12th via the Internet among a representative sample of 1,000 people using the quota method.
