MOTO: After the ce-04, which looks like a futuristic scooter, BMW is launching this new machine that the brand describes as an “eParkourer”.
BMW’s new 100% electric two-wheeler oscillates between scooter and motorcycle, with an aesthetic all its own. Solid rims, flat saddle, and raised handlebars: it has a look of fire. A motorcycle look, but with a foot forward scooter position, a small frame, and a very low centre of gravity, the ce-02 is a real city dweller. BMW Motorrad targets a young audience by offering a 5hp version accessible from 14 years old, and a 15hp version, for 16 years old. The brand is also thinking of reassuring parents by focusing on safety, with electronic stability control and ABS on the front wheel. But the fun is never far away, since it offers an optional “Flash” driving mode for the 15 hp version, which makes acceleration frankly dynamic.
The price of freedom?
The ce-02 is designed for young people looking for freedom, but a freedom that has its limits, with 45 to 55 km of autonomy for the least powerful model, and 90 km for the most powerful. The 15ch version has two batteries (against one for the 5ch) and these are not removable. Forget the possibility of plugging them into the house. A 900W external charger is supplied as standard (0 to 100% in 5h12 for the 15hp version), while a 1,100W fast charger is available with the optional “Highline” pack (specific colors, Bluetooth connectivity, pro saddle, etc.). This pack at 890 euros announces the color of the prices: 7,750 euros for the 50cc equivalent, and 8,750 euros for the 125cc equivalent.
