Lidl: batches of sweet and savory popcorn recalled throughout France

Two batches of McEnnedy brand popcorn, sold in all Lidl stores in France, are subject to a national recall. They would contain too many pesticides.

It is the ideal companion for movie nights. Pay attention, however, to the one that is in your cupboards.

This Friday, April 28, 2023, the government service RappelConso.gouv.fr launched the recall of two popcorn references. The batches concerned would contain too many pesticides.

The products in detail

In detail, we can read on Rappel Conso that the two products are sold in all Lidl stores in France.

Both are from the McEnnedy brand, they are to be heated in the microwave. The batches concerned are 22349 and 22331 for those that are sweet (respectively perishable on December 16 and November 28, 2024) and 22354, with a date of minimum durability set at December 21, 2024, for savoury.

The products were on sale until Friday.

Pesticides

“Investigations carried out due to the detection of Chlorpyrifos on certain batches of corn, led to the withdrawal and recall of this product as a precaution”, justifies Rappel Conso.

In short, the reason for the recall is an exceedance of the authorized limits of pesticides .

The government body, therefore, recommends not consuming this popcorn and to bring them back to the point of sale, where a refund is organized. More information on 08 00 90 03 43.
