DEATH: A Swiss resident has died after receiving the Pfizer-BioNtech Vaccine
A Swiss resident who was among the first in the country to be vaccinated with an injection of the COVID-19 vaccine for the coronavirus Covid-19 later died, authorities in the canton of Lucerne said on Wednesday, without specifying whether the death was linked to the inoculation.
“We are aware of the matter,” said a spokesperson, adding that the matter had been handed over to Swissmedic, the Swiss drug control body.
The town did not provide details, including the time that elapsed between the time the person received the injection and when the death occurred.
Lucerne was the site of the first vaccinations in Switzerland from last week, with a vaccine from Pfizer and its German partner BioNTech given mainly to the elderly. Switzerland has received 107,000 doses of the vaccine so far and expects to receive 250,000 per month from next year.
