A wind turbine catches fire in Morbihan

In the afternoon of Tuesday 25th June, a fire broke out in one of the wind turbines park Kéruel, Ambon (East Morbihan).

A spectacular fire is underway on one of the wind turbines Park Kéruel, Ambon (East Morbihan), along the highway N165, about 300 meters. It started around 4:10 pm

Firefighters arrived on site, with the intervention group in a perilous environment. Motorists even stopped along the expressway to see what was going on. The prefecture also encourages motorists for vigilance on the road.

The fire took on the level of the rear engine. at about 80 m high, while the blades are about 35 meters. Soon the fumes intensified and large flames invaded the entire engine space in the turbine.



At approximately 4.40pm, pieces of metal began to fall and part of the cabin eventually fell to the ground. Thirty firefighters are on the scene at this fire. It must be ensured that the fire is not also in the column, and extinguish the fire on the ground, in the field.

The blades, they stayed in place. A security perimeter has been set up.

On social networks, the incident was picked up by motorists, like Ynot on Twitter.

This wind turbine is one of six machines installed in 2007 on this fleet and commissioned in 2008.

The fire was finally controlled around 18:50.
