For the new edition of the medieval festival of Guérande, which celebrates its twentieth anniversary, the fools are in the spotlight. The public will have to elect the King of Fools this Sunday 2nd June at 4 pm.
To celebrate the 20 years of the medieval festival of Guérande (Pays de la Loire), honour to the madmen! Marotte in hand, erect hair, mischievous eyes and jumping feet, these madmen will accompany the crowd throughout the weekend.
They will of course be present at the traditional parade on Sunday morning (11 am, departure near the Porte Vannetaise ) which will see more than 2,000 costumed people wander the streets of the old town.
The king will be elected to the applaudimeter
Fools to seduce onlookers to be elected king of the fools Sunday at 4 pm.
“This idea was born from a work with a historian” says Patrice Guihard, in charge of events to culture.

“With this election, we wanted more interactivity with the Guérandais, they participate in the medieval festival, “said Luc Portet, deputy mayor and coordinator of the steering committee.”
Another highlight of this anniversary edition, the children’s ball Place du Vieux Marché at 16:15, for young people from 4 to 12 years animated by Waraok.
“The troupe of troubadours Les Carlisons, who comes for the first time in Guérande, will also offer children introductory workshops at the medieval circus at 2 pm and 6 pm on Saturday and Sunday, “the organisers said.
Festive evening Saturday
Anniversary edition requires, a big festive evening is organised Saturday from 8.45pm.
“Pegasus Prod and Gueule de loup have concocted a spectacular creation of fire and flame especially to celebrate our 20 candles.”

Practical Information: Saturday 1st June, traffic around the intramural will be prohibited from 12 midday to midnight and Sunday, June 2 from 10 am to 8 pm.
