200 kg of Cannabis, € 16,500 and Weapons: A Vast Traffic between Toulouse and Spain Dismantled

More than 200kg of cannabis were seized Wednesday, April 10, 2019 by the Research Section of Toulouse.

On Wednesday 10th April, 2019, the Toulouse Research Section carried out a major crackdown to dismantle drug trafficking between Spain and Toulouse. The details.

After more than a year of investigation, the Research Section (SR) of Toulouse managed to dismantle a large drug traffic between France and Spain, on the night of Tuesday 9th to Wednesday 10th April, 2019.

A convoy stopped in the middle of the night

It is around 1 am, in the middle of the night, when the gendarmes intercept a convoy on the A9 motorway . An open car and a truck are stopped after the border. Three persons , of Romanian nationality, are controlled. Then the truck is searched.

On board, the military discovered 201 kg of cannabis . In detail, it is 170 kg of grass and 31 kg of resin on which the investigators have got their hands, says a source familiar with the matter at Actu Toulouse.


Nine inmates

These arrests will trigger a wave of arrests in Toulouse and the surrounding area. At 6 o’clock, seven people are arrested at their homes. 1 kilo of cannabis resin is also seized from one of the challenged, as well as 1600 € . Two weapons are also found, including a 5-56 automatic weapon.

The ten people arrested, from Romania, Algeria and France, are between 25 and 49 years old . The majority of them are already known to the police. If one person was quickly released, the other nine were presented to a judge and then incarcerated.

Traffic between Barcelona and the north of Toulouse

On the Spanish side, a judge was asked to search the homes of suspects and the premises of the intercepted truck company. During this last, bags similar to those who carried the drug were found , reinforcing the investigators in their suspicions.

Started more than a year ago by the Toulouse-Mirail research brigade, the investigation was resumed in April 2018 by the services of the Toulouse Research Section . The latter has managed to uncover traffic from Barcelona (Spain ) which mainly supplied traffickers from Blagnac, Beauzelle and Colomiers.
